The Cyril Beaumont Scholarship 2018 takes place at KS Dance on 18th October and we are delighted to welcome Oliver Rydout, Rehearsal Director at Scottish Ballet and Maureen Christie, Cecchetti Examiner, to adjudicate the event.

The Cyril Beaumont Scholarship 2018 is held annually in honour of British Dance Historian Cyril Beaumont. His legacy in the Dance world is considered of the utmost importance having authored over 40 books on Dance through the ages. The scholarship was originally awarded to a student of The Royal Ballet School, until the last number of years whereby Cecchetti has been delighted to award the Scholarship to a member of KS Dance who shows technical excellence and exquisite performance ability in Cecchetti Ballet mothods.

Last Year’s Winner, Chloe Howarth, received the award for sublime presentation of Cecchetti lines and artistry. Similarly, previous winners have gone on to gain employment in some of the World’s most Prestigious Ballet Companies.

The award process takes the form of a Ballet Class delivered by Miss Gillian Hurst, accompanied by Mr John Taggart at the Piano. The class is open to students from all 3 of our vocational years who are actively on the Dancers’ or Classical Courses at KS Dance.

Other accolades to be presented by Maureen Christie and Oliver Rydout (Scottish Ballet) include awards for Musicality, Boys and Runners Up.

The Cyril Beaumont Scholarship also invites Patrons, Colleagues and Parents of the School to watch the Scholarship Class as a special occasion to appreciate the talent and hard work of all those at KS Dance.
