We are delighted to announce that 2 of our vocational students are flying off to Firenze, Italy this summer representing the UK in the 2017 CICB.
Ella-Louise Appleby (2nd Year student of KS Dance) and Chloe Howarth (1st Year Student of KS Dance) will represent the UK in the Cecchetti Ballet International Competition 2017.
Post Graduate of KSDance, Jenny Hackwell now company dancer with ‘Northern Ballet Company’ placed 1st and won the gold medal for the UK in the 2014 CICB.

What is the Cecchetti Ballet International Competition?
The competition is comprised of a Junior and Senior Division. Both Ella-Louise and Chloe are dancing in the Senior Division. The ages of all competitors in this division are between 17 and 20 years old. Each student must have already achieved a successful pass mark at Advanced 1 level in Cecchetti Ballet (or equivalent level nomenclature used by each Cecchetti organisation)
On Sunday 12th February in Birmingham, The adjudicators watched in each division a Contemporary Class that was open to an audience and also a Classical Solo of the candidates own choice, from approved repertoire.
Ella-Louise Appleby danced the ‘Lilac Fairy Variation,’ from ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ and Chloe Howarth danced the ‘Bluebird Variation,’ from ‘The Sleeping Beauty.’ Both girls danced beautifully and impressed the adjudicators, Miss Elisabeth Swan and Miss Anita Young after deliberating for 1hr and 2o minutes, the results were in and our girls received full bursaries to represent the UK in Firenze, Italy.
As the adjudicators announced their decisions, both girls were taken aback initially, by hearing their names called out. However this quickly turned to joy as they realised they had been selected to dance in Italy this Summer and represent the UK. Smiles all the way home on that car journey we would say!

Content to be adjudicated in Firenze, Italy.
-One classical ballet class, on stage, that is adjudicated and open to the audience
-One contemporary class to be observed by adjudicators but not marked, to be seen on stage and open to the audience
-Classical ballet solo, from approved repertoire, on stage
-Solo of own choice, neoclassical, contemporary, or modern genre (hereafter known as contemporary)
All Competitors will get to perform both of their solos, and dance the adjudicated ballet class, before any selections are made for the finals.

1st Year student from Birmingham, Chloe Howarth & 2nd Year student Ella-Louise Appleby from South Wales are both studying their ‘Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance,’ at KSDance, Warrington. The ‘Level 6 Diploma’ is validated by Trinity College, London. Chloe and Ella-Louise are also studying towards their teaching qualifications in Cecchetti Ballet at levels 3 & 4 – DDI and DDE which is quality assured through the ISTD.
We wish both Chloe and Ella-Louise a massive “chukkas” as they go on to prepare for this prestigious international competition in the classical world We shall continue to follow their journey all the way.
